Finding The Right Dog Care Training Collar

By Delia

If you are trying to train your dog, you will want to look at all of your options. There are many ways that you can train a dog to obey. Dogs must be educated in regard to interacting with other dogs and people, and also how to behave on your property.

One of the more popular dog training tools is a dog training collar. You may have seen these advertised on the web.

There are different types of dog training collars that you can try out. Each one will deliver a different effect in order to promote a proper response. Here is an overview of how you can choose the best dog care training collar available today.

What Do Dog Training Collars Do?

These training collars for dogs are all designed in a similar fashion. Just like any other dog collar, they will fit around your dog’s neck.

The primary difference is that they will have some type of device attached to the collar which you can control it via a remote. The remote will use radio signals which can direct the dog collar to perform certain functions.

Those functions may include delivering a tone that the dog can hear, create vibrations, or it may deliver a static shock. Depending upon the current behavioral issues that your dog is facing, you can choose the one that best fits their situation.

Which Type Of Collar Is The Best?

The least invasive is going one that will deliver vibrations. These can be used to train your dog without causing any undue discomfort.

If your dog needs more attention, you may want to use those that deliver tones that only dogs can hear. The remote will allow you to augment that signal, allowing it to be louder, softer, and you can also change the duration.

Arguably, the most effective type of dog collar are those that deliver a shock. In some circles, this is considered to be a cruel way to train any canine.

However, good shock collars do not cause harm. The jolts of electricity that is delivered is merely designed to get their attention. For a reactive dog, this can actually save their life.

Teaching recall using a training collar can snap your dog out of a reactive behavior that could put him in harm’s way.

Why Do They Work?

Training a dog involves three specific strategies. First of all, you must have a set of commands that you are trying to teach them. This could include sit, stay, lie down and numerous other commands.

Second, you will need to break any existing patterns that they have which could be problematic. For instance, it is very common for certain breeds of dogs to bark at literally everything that moves around them.

This is very apparent if you have a dog that is loyal and protective that is behind a fence on your property. To train them to not bark at people simply walking by or at other dogs, these collars can effectively break that pattern with the simple press of a button.

Finally, you must incorporate a rewards system. The reward may include treats along with not activating the collar if they perform well.

For example, a dog that does not bark at a pedestrian walking by would not only avoid a tone or shock from the collar, but would also receive a treat for their good behavior.

Is It Possible To Train Dogs Without A Training Collar?

Training a dog can be problematic if you do not start when they are young. If you have recently picked up your dog at a local kennel, you have no way of knowing how the previous owners treated them. Many of their bad behaviors may be the result of their interactions with the prior owners.

It may be more difficult to instate new patterns of good behavior with dogs that have had bad experiences. Using a dog training collar, you can accelerate the process by which they are able to avoid old behaviors and learn new ones.

When used properly, along with very specific commands and a reward system, these type of collars can be an asset for any dog owner that is trying to implement positive changes.

Training collars are designed for one purpose. They are made to help dog owners train their dogs more effectively. Whether you choose to use those that deliver vibrations, tones or shocks, each will help interrupt the pattern of their bad behavior while you are implementing the new ones.

You can find reviews for different ones that are currently for sale. Based upon the reviews of other dog owners, you can make your decision with great confidence.

If you are ready to train your dog and you don’t mind making a small investment, you should consider obtaining an appropriate dog care training collar for your canine.
